When
Georgia needed to develop a state energy policy, Guy
Griswold was appointed to the task force. Griswold’s
first-hand knowledge of the needs of large industrial
customers plus his proven leadership abilities and his
relationships in the regulatory and legislative arena
made him an ideal choice for the role.
Griswold spent 24 years with Procter & Gamble, most
recently in charge of external affairs where he was
responsible for legislative, regulatory and media
relations. He has extensive experience representing
industry in economic development and governmental
matters.
For four years, he chaired the Georgia Industrial Group,
which represents large industries in regulatory
proceedings. Instead of combative, adversarial
posturing, Griswold developed constructive working
relationships on all sides. Today, as a partner in Blue
Ridge Strategies, he brings a wealth of wisdom and
experience to the table for a variety of clients.
A native of Georgia and graduate of Georgia Tech,
Griswold led the development of a consistent approach
for greenfield development projects around the world.
One of his most challenging projects was a start-up
manufacturing operation in Saudi Arabia, involving a
staff of 17 different nationalities. He has established
relationships with government and community leaders in
many domestic and international locations.
With a background in financial management of plant
operations, Griswold is keenly aware of his client’s
need to reduce costs. He delivers profitable results by
finding win-win solutions to obstacles that would
otherwise prevent or delay progress toward carefully
planned objectives. He has saved millions of
plant-expansion dollars by negotiating and using
economic development incentives. He currently is
Chairman of the Business Incentives and Tax committee of
the Georgia Chamber’s Government Affairs Council.
Always active in his community, Griswold has donated his
management expertise to boards ranging from United Way
and the American Red Cross to Kennesaw Mountain High
School Football. He is a member of Leadership Albany in
Georgia and is active with Habitat for Humanity and the
United Methodist Church. This year, Guy and his wife,
Suzanne Sitherwood are chairing the Hearts with Hope
Ball benefiting the Partnership Against Domestic
Violence.
Guy Griswold and Suzanne, have one son, Eric, who
attends Georgia Tech. They live in Marietta, Georgia. |
